Sizes and Prices

The following sizes and prices are an approximate guide:

**  Miniatures can be painted on paper, board or raw silk, and can be sent ready for framing, or made up as a paperweight for £85 (see photo below).  For framed raw silk paintings please ask for details.

Please note the finished board/paper size for multiple portraits will vary according to the image size and the layout chosen.  If you have a particular size in mind which is not specified above, please ask for details.  Full body pet portraits will usually be 50% extra, depending on size and detail required.

There is a charge for painting in large harnesses, such as bridles/reins for horse portraits, depending on the complexity involved.

For smaller animals, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds (usually whole body) the cost will be approximately 20-40% less than the above prices, depending on size and complexity.

Background Detail

I prefer to paint head and shoulder portraits with no background.  However, I am occasionally asked to paint whole body portraits with a background, and I can work from several photographs to achieve this.   If you do require a background/favourite scene incorporated into your portrait, the cost will be approximately 50% extra, depending on detail involved.

Framing

Unfortunately, I no longer offer a framing service for standard pet portraits (please see above for raw silk miniatures).  All portraits are sized for framing, as above, and are sent unmounted.  This not only saves on postage costs, but you are able to choose the type of mount and frame that suits your requirements from your local framer.

Postage & Packing

Within the UK portraits are sent by Special Delivery, which offers a next day service and also includes compensation cover for delay, loss or damage.  Depending on size and weight this will range from £6.00 to  £9.50.  You are, of course, welcome to collect your portrait, subject to travelling distance. Portraits sent abroad will be sent by Airsure.  All portraits are carefully packed and protected.

Payment Details

When placing your order I will require a 25% deposit before starting your portrait.  I accept payment by cheque in GBP (UK customers only) or by Paypal.  Cheques are made payable to N Jones, and sent with your Order Form (unless you have e-mailed your portrait order details), to the address at the bottom of this page.  I will request the final balance before I send your portrait to you (I will ring or e-mail with the final balance once I have completed your portrait, and once you have seen and approved a scan of the finished portrait).

Enquiries and Placing an Order

If you would like to place an order for a portrait, or if you would like to discuss anything else you are not sure about, please e-mail your details, and I will get back to you promptly.  If you would like to talk to me personally by telephone to discuss your requirements, please include your telephone number in an e-mail so I can call you back, or you can call me on 01235 529895.  If you know someone who would be interested but does not have access to a computer, I can also send written details and a brochure in the post.

Deadline for Completion

I usually have a waiting list of approximately 2 – 4 months.  However, please discuss any urgent requirements you may have, such as forthcoming birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion, and I will do my utmost to get your portrait to you in time (or you might like to consider purchasing a Gift Voucher).  Obviously the busiest time of year is leading up to Christmas, and I start to get really busy from August onwards, so please bear this in mind if you would like a portrait painted in time for Christmas, and in particular meeting the Christmas post deadline.  

Gift Vouchers

If you have left it a little late to commission a portrait for a particular date for that someone special, you might like to consider purchasing a Gift Voucher instead.  This would allow the recipient to order their pet portrait when they choose.   Gift Vouchers are valid for twelve months from the date of purchase, and are available in any amount of your choosing, in part or full payment towards the cost of a pet portrait.  Please contact me for more details.

Work in Progress

Please let me know if you would like to see how your portrait is progressing, and I will be happy to send you a scan via e-mail.  Some people like to do this, others prefer to wait until they receive their finished portrait.

Finished Artwork

Once I have completed your portrait, I will telephone/e-mail you to let you know.  If required, I will then send a scan via e-mail so you can view your finished portrait.  Once you have approved the final scan I request the balance of payment.  Once payment has been received I will send your portrait to you.  If you wish to collect your portrait you may pay me in person by cash or cheque.  All your photographs will be safely returned to you, as well as any digital photographs that I may have taken, if applicable.

Guarantee

I feel confident that you will be more than delighted with your finished portrait painting but if, for any reason, you are not entirely satisfied, as long as you contact me within 14 days of receipt of your portrait I will refund the full amount to you on return of all undamaged artwork, less postage and packaging costs.
